Meeting Activities
The meeting began at 6:30 p.m.
Last month’s meeting’s minutes were acknowledged.
The President welcomed visitors: Frank Griffin, and Steven Magallan.
In lieu of a typical presentation, the night’s activity was composed of an “Art Talk” where various artists shared one piece of work and elaborated, as a way of networking with others.
Art Talks:
Diane Berg – Lyn Rackley – Deb Freeman – Gordon Nealy – Jesse Hughs –
Christy Schroeder-Lloyd – Steven Magallan – Georgia Donovan –
Scott Smith – Kay Dee Powell – Frank Griffin
Sea to See Event:
The President introduced Scott and Liesa Smith as “point people” for the Sea-to-See Art Show and Sale, November 4th. A brief description was given.
A sign-up sheet was passed around for volunteers needed to work the day of the show as site greeters and monitors, walking advertisers downtown, and clean up folks. All are asked to distribute postcards to the public and get the word out. There was a call for more artists. Email blast is coming with more information and instruction.
BAC joined both the Birch Bay Chamber and White Rock Chamber this month for more networking in advertising. Northern Light and Cascadia Daily will carry articles for Sea to See, as they did for The Wave.
Georgia Donovan has volunteered to create an Artist Directory to be made available at
Visitor’s Center. Artists should submit their information and photos to her or Kay Dee.
Seal Pup Project
The President introduced the intention of a new undertaking called Seal Pup Project.
Member Kim Morris will sculpt the prototype for a Bellingham fiberglass company to
consider. This is a long-term project which could become a fundraising/business
proposition.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m. and artists set up their work to display and share.
