Jesse Hughs began his interest in pottery at Ferndale Highschool because he needed a credit in Art. He loved working on the wheel and creating pieces that were functional. He wanted to make pieces of art that were used and enjoyed every day by others too.
In 2016, he helped build his first shop in his parent’s backyard. His business was officially named in 2017 (Uncle Jesse’s Pottery). Jesse partnered with Bellewood Farms and Portal Way Farm & Garden in 2018, creating repeat customers who sought out their next Uncle Jesse’s Pottery
piece.
2020 was the year that he created his website unclejessespottery.com and in 2022 he took the leap and was now full-time in his business. March 25, 2023, he opened his first brick-and-mortar storefront at 5679 Third Ave in Ferndale.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
