Functional crafts made with natural materials, and Native American regalia
Profile / Bio
I have over 45 years experience working with fibers and other natural materials. My background includes the production of historically accurate early American brooms. I have woven 40 different styles of brooms dating as far back as the American Revolution, and one of my brooms is in the Smithsonian Institute Victorian exhibit.
Currently I produce whistles, rattles, and other Native American regalia for our canoe and dance family. I also teach how to make crafts for youth ages 9 to 16 at Camp Nor’Wester in the San Juan Islands. Cathy and I started the Blaine Gardener’s Market, the Mother’s Day studio art tours in Blaine, and the Winterfest art shows also in Blaine. I was the principal of Seattle Public School’s experiential learning center for hands on learners for 15 years, where the arts in all forms were taught and honored.
