KATHLEEN WINT CARLSSON
STUDIO POTTER
CONTEMPORARY AND TRADITIONAL STONEWARE AND PORCELAIN
Serenity and a profound love of nature are the underlying influences of the vessels and hand built forms of Kathleen Wint Carlsson.
A ceramicist for over three decades, Kathleen was born in England and moved to the Caribbean at an early age. A love of the sea and an adventurous spirit brought Kathleen to South Florida where she resided for many years before moving to the Pacific North West
Creamics came as a surprise when sighing up for a French course, which was full, pottery was offered and working with clay was immediatley captivating and became a passion in her life. Self-taught, she continued studying ceramics as an independent study student and has attended workshops and university summer programs.
Kathleen has been a member of Center of the Arts, Bonita Springs and a past memer of the Florida Craftsmen and the American Craft Council. She has taught in the Broward County Community School system and privately in her studio. Teaching, sharing knowledge and her passion for working with clay has always been an important part of her involvement with clay.
Awareness and appreciation of the beauty and colors of the landscape are reflected in the large thrown stoneware vessels in the Altered Rim series and the Horizon series. The large sculptures with hard lines and soft white surfaces are influenced by the light and shadows on snow covered landscapes.
Kathleen lives and works Point Roberts in a setting suited to her quiet introspective nature.
